CIS for contractors and subcontractors.
You got into construction to build things, not to work out deductions. The Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), where contractors take tax off subcontractors' pay before they're paid, means registration, monthly returns and a deadline that doesn't move. At Newton & Co, we handle all of it, whichever side of it you're on.
Registered, calculated, filed. One deadline you'll never miss.
If you're a contractor, you need to verify subcontractors, deduct the right amount from their pay and send HMRC a return every month. If you're a subcontractor, you need to be registered so the right rate applies to you in the first place. Either way, it's paperwork that has to be right, on a schedule that doesn't wait.
We register you, run the numbers correctly and file your returns on time, so you can get on with the job.

Things people ask.
Can't see yours? and we'll happily talk it through.
What is CIS, in plain English?
It's HMRC's system for the construction industry. Contractors deduct tax from subcontractors' pay before they're paid, and hand it over to HMRC as an advance on the subcontractor's own tax bill.
What rate gets deducted from my pay?
20% if you're registered for CIS, 30% if you're not, or nothing if you've got gross payment status, which we can help you apply for if it suits your business.
When's the CIS return due each month?
The 19th of every month, covering the tax month that's just ended. We handle this so it's never something you have to think about.
I've never registered for CIS before, can you sort that?
Yes, whether you're a contractor or a subcontractor, we'll get you registered with HMRC and explain what happens next.
How much does it cost?
It depends on how many subcontractors you're dealing with and how the work's set up. We'll be straight with you about what's involved, and what it'll cost, before anything starts.
We handle CIS for contractors and subcontractors in Jarrow, South Tyneside, Newcastle and the wider North East, remotely across the UK, and for people working overseas.
